Omaha Yoga School Instructors Print E-mail

Meredith Busher is the former Director of the Omaha Yoga School. She assumed the position in Sept. 2004 from Margaret Hahn, former director and founder of the school in 1977. Meredith was first introduced to yoga during a semester studying in Tamil Nadu, India, in 1996. While in India, Meredith studied Indian philosophy, religion, and South Indian art and culture with scholars Dr. Venkatramen and Dr. Ted Adams. Meredith graduated from Smith College in Northampton, MA and lived and worked in Boston, MA as an EMT before moving to Omaha in 2001. In addition to her training at the Omaha Yoga School with Margaret Hahn and Yoga Sutras scholar Dr. Michele Desmarais, Meredith has studied with a number of internationally recognized instructors including Rod Stryker, chanting with Ann Dyer, vinyasa with Shiva Rea and Rolf Gates, Thai Yoga Massage with Saul David Raye and the principles of Anusara with John Friend and Desiree Rumbaugh. Yoga has touched every aspect of Meredith's life. She brings her commitment to the true essence of yoga and her enthusiasm for sharing this profound practice to every class.

Meredith recently returned from Jaipur, India where she was studying Ayurveda (India's 5,000 year old natural healing system and yoga's sister science) at Chakrapani Ayurvedic Clinic and Research Center. While there she had the opportunity to study with several internationally respected Ayurvedic professors and physicians including Dr. Rajesh and Mitta Kotecha, Dr. A. Kumar and Dr. P. Kumar. A licensed massage therapist and now an Ayurvedic therapist, Meredith offers Ayurvedic counseling including individualized constitutional analysis, diet and daily/seasonal regimine recommendations. She specializes in Ayurvedic body treatments for both specific ailments and relaxation/rejuvenation.


Margaret Hahn is founder of the Omaha Yoga School and trains teachers in Omaha; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Calgary, Alberta. Margaret began studying yoga in 1972. She has studied yoga asana and pranayama (posture and breath control) with American instructors Lynn Anstine, Diane Hatfield, Jerry Byrd, and Ramanand Patel. On trips to India she has studied with B.K.S. Iyengar and his daughter, Geeta, and son, Prashant. Her research into the history of yoga brought Margaret to the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, India, where she participated in asana and pranayama classes with the Temple guru. Margaret has studied Indian art and religion with scholars Dale Stover, Dorothy Fickle, Robert Minor and Michele Desmarais. She has studied Indian philosophy and yoga practice with London instructor Kamal Paul; meditation with Indian gurus, Mahatmaji Parlokanand and Dr. V. J. Pratrap, and chanting with Pandit Mukesh Desai. With the help of students and family, Margaret self-published Hymns of the Omaha Yoga School in 1997; Beginning Yoga, Omaha Yoga School in 1999; The Ganesha Series and Responses to the Challenge of Terror: A Traveling Essay by Dr. John Paul Lederach in 2001.
